Laboratory Fit-Out

We recently completed a laboratory fit out project with one of our public sector customers. We were required to complete a Design & Build Containment Level 3 Laboratory which involved a full strip out of existing laboratory furniture and fume cupboards and replace with new including new floor covering, suspended ceiling, LED lighting, decorate walls and associated mechanical pipework/gases and electrical wiring installations. The new laboratory now provides 24/7 independent operation with closed loop monitoring enabling HVAC plant to maintain containment and supply suitable working conditions for users. We have completed several laboratory fit outs and look forward to completing more in partnership with our clients.

Perinatal Refurbishment

For one of our healthcare customers, we undertook the full refurbishment of the perinatal services for a mental health department to provide a safe environment for the local community. We completed a comprehensive renovation and office change, to transform a previously underutilised medical records space into a vibrant, functional, and welcoming environment for staff and service users. The project included a full upgrade of the power and lighting, replacement flooring, kitchenette installation, access control and intercom integration, air-conditioning installation, and full redecoration. Clinic Refurbishment

We had the opportunity to work with the NHS to transform an Alzheimer’s and Dementia clinic in North London to provide a mixed-use space of a warm reception area, 2 x medical rooms, kitchenette, DDA toilet and storage room for the patients, local community, and staff . This project included a full strip-out, fire protection services, air-conditioning reinstatement, new flooring, the erection of new walls to redefine the space, full redecoration, and furniture supply. Following the project, the Hillswood team took part in volunteering exercises to further support the clinic and their recent artwork exercise. This project was particularly poignant and we were welcomed to the opening day to celebrate with the community and users of the space for the years to come.

Generator Load Bank Test

We also pride ourselves in the successful completion of critical maintenance for our customers. Over a recent weekend, we completed generator load bank testing to ensure the reliability and efficiency of critical units for our private sector customer. During the test, key parameters such as voltage, frequency, and temperature were monitored to identify any potential issues that could affect the generator’s functionality, ensuring that the critical unit remains operational during emergencies. Due to the roof location, our site team reviewed multiple safety checks regarding structural integrity and ventilation. Once the site was deemed safe, the generator was connected to the load bank, which simulates the electrical load the generator would encounter during normal operations. Regular load bank testing, even in challenging locations like rooftops, is vital for maintaining the readiness and reliability of our client’s backup power systems.

UPS Migration

The UPS Migration Project we undertook in recent months demonstrates our ability to manage critical engineering projects. As part of a workspace change project, our client required enhanced resilience to an area of the building which had previously accommodated administrational departments and we delivered UPS migration works to serve the Broker environment. Following the required capacity tests, we installed two distribution boards beside the existing boards in the UPS room and electrical riser. Once these were connected to the UPS, we then migrated the circuits over from the non-UPS DBs to the new UPS DBs during a weekend shutdown. This was a very intrusive project which involved weekend working throughout, the office flooring being opened and an electrical shutdown.

Chiller Replacement

Following a successful competitive tender, we completed a full chiller replacement project for our Public Sector customer in North London. We undertook all aspects of the project which involved a supply & installation of the chiller via crane lift, pipework modifications, electrical upgrades, control upgrades & commissioning. The project results and positive feedback from the client were testament to our Project Manager’s focus, attention to detail and effective preparation. We worked closely with the customer to ensure all eventualities were considered and reviewed, with specialist attention given to the crane lift and all health & safety aspects prioritised.
